Dramatic Improvement in Body Contour
"I am personally very interested in this procedure, and I'm always trying to improve it. I constantly look for those techniques that improve the patient's experience and result. That's why I enjoy doing it, you can really see the change. Patients' pant sizes go down right away, and they just look fantastic when they are done," says Dr. Rios. As a native of south Texas, Dr. Rios is committed to providing the best tummy tuck and patient experience for his community. "I have a lot of patients who have tried on their own. They exercise, they eat right, but it's hard to get those abdominal muscles to tighten back up. They get to that point where they say 'There's nothing more I can do. I have been trying my best,' and it's nice to be able to get in there and help them get to that next level."
Regain Your Shape After Pregnancy and Weight Loss
A tummy tuck is a body contouring procedure designed to tighten your core muscles and remove excess skin after significant weight loss. The result is a flatter stomach and leaner silhouette. It's an especially popular procedure with women after they have finished their pregnancies. Dr. Rios' tummy tuck can greatly reduce the amount of stretch marks while tightening abdominal muscles that may have separated during a pregnancy.
Dr. Rios is a board-certified plastic surgeon, a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, and a Clinical Faculty member at the University of Texas, San Antonio. The Edinburg native advises his fellow Texans to put an emphasis on safety when selecting their tummy tuck practitioner. "It's one of the more extensive procedures and takes some time to recover, so you have to select your practitioner carefully," warns Dr. Rios. "Make sure the plastic surgeon you choose is board certified and has hospital privileges for all the procedures he performs."
"It is just a common-sense safety precaution. It makes me feel comfortable to be able to perform procedures in the hospital should my patients require extra medical attention. And that consistency of care makes my patients feel comfortable. You should expect your plastic surgeon to have hospital privileges."
In addition to maintaining hospital privileges for all this procedures, Dr. Rios' own surgical center is AAAASF-certified, the gold standard for safety and quality of care.
Constantly Striving for Excellence
Dr. Rios, McAllen's Favorite Plastic Surgeon 10 years in a row, places a premium on experience. "I perform about 100 tummy tucks a year," says the Harvard-educated surgeon. "I take a lot of courses. Just this fall I was in New York reviewing my work with a recognized expert. We shared techniques, traded notes and made improvements. For next year, I'm creating my own conference and inviting my colleagues so we can work on refining our techniques. I spend a lot of time studying and conferring with other surgeons with expertise in this procedure, because it's so important to me to get my patients the best results. I'm from here. Many of my patients are members of my local community."
Dr. Rios also performs tummy tucks in combination with other procedures. Often, the outcome of one procedure can be enhanced by another, and when it's safe and indicated, Dr. Rios can combine the procedures into one surgical period and one recovery period. A popular combination procedure is the Mommy Makeover, which usually involves a breast surgery, like a lift or augmentation and a contouring procedure like liposuction or a tummy tuck. Sometimes all of the above. During your consultation, Dr. Rios will review the treatment options that are right for you.
